About

Schuyler Bailar is the first transgender athlete to compete in any sport on a NCAA D1 men's team and provides inspirational speaking and consulting services based on his education and experience.

Schuyler's speaking experience includes nationwide in-person appearances and millions of online and broadcast media views. His audiences span all sizes, ages and backgrounds from elementary schools to corporate auditoriums, from the CIA to the NCAA. From parent workshops to for-credit continuing education for professionals. His engaging stories, humor and surprising and endearing candor are both enlightening and catalyzing.

Schuyler's consulting and advisory services focus on diversity, advocacy, LGBTQ inclusion and social emotional learning.

Schuyler received a BA in Psychology from Harvard College in 2019 and was the 7th recipient in the history of Harvard Varsity Club's prestigious Director's Award.

Schuyler swam by the time he was 1. He competed in his first meet at age 7. By 15, Schuyler was ranked one of the top 20 15-year-old breast stroke swimmers in the country. In high school he achieved two All-American designations. At the 2013 USA Swimming National Championships, Schuyler’s 400-yard Medley Relay Team was the fastest 15-to-18-year-old relay team ever, setting the National age group record. During a gap-year before college, Schuyler transitioned and made his decision public to enable others to learn from his example.

Schuyler’s difficult choice – to be true to himself while potentially giving up the prospect of being an NCAA Champion – was historic and timely. His story hit Facebook’s top-trending news and has been recounted in hundreds of outlets from The Washington Post, to 60 Minutes, The Olympic Channel and The Ellen Show.
